When He Died
Words & Music by Michael Warner
Verse 1:
When Jesus died
It was my sin that pierced His hands and His side
The day iniquity and suffering and pride
Of all mankind was crucified
When Jesus prayed
He could’ve cursed this angry world but forgave
That all who call upon His name would be saved
And through Him find eternal life
Chorus:
When He died
He took upon Himself the guilt that was mine
As the Lamb was sacrified
Heaven’s veil was opened wide
And I am free
To be the kind of man He’s called me to be
Living life for Him not me
As I realize Why Jesus died
Verse 2:
For those who walk in the light
To pass forever throgh the dark into the light
And see their lives
Through Heaven’s eyes
And so it starts today
To live out loud this Word of life in every way
To bear my cross at any cost that I must pay
So unashamed of Jesus’ name
Chorus:
When He died
He took upon Himself the guilt that was mine
As the Lamb was sacrified
Heaven’s veil was opened wide
And I am free
To be the kind of man He’s called me to be
Living life for Him not me
As I realize Why Jesus died
Bridge:
And still it’s so hard to believe
How the God of everything
Could become my sin for me
And died to set me free
He could’ve just refused
But for love that He went through
What I could not do…
Chorus:
When He died
He took upon Himself the guilt that was mine
As the Lamb was sacrified
Heaven’s veil was opened wide
And I am free
To be the kind of man He’s called me to be
Living life for Him not me
As I realize Why Jesus died
As I realize…
Final Verse:
When Jesus died
It was my sin that pierced His hands and His side
The day iniquity and suffering and pride
Of all mankind was crucified
